At a staffroom of a typical inner-London comprehensiveschool, teachers recently interviewed by The Economist agreed that the only way in which a young classroom teacher could afford to own property was to have a well-paid spouse or partner.
Peter Morris, a teacher from Bishop Gore ComprehensiveSchool in Swansea, spoke of "pupils fighting in the classroom, throwing computer monitors around the room".
In response to this need, and convinced that the best place to start in the classroom well before disaster strikes, UNESCO and UNICEF have published acomprehensive study called Disaster Risk Reduction in School Curricula.
