Often enough, that movie stars Meryl Streep, and here she is again with "Hope Springs, " a funny, outwardly modest comedy that manages to feel utterly novel by focusing on the sexual and emotional needs of an older woman.
And she came down to one of the events we had down here in Boulder and she just is so used to seeing, you know, busted-up, missing-limbs people that to them it's like, wow, this is totally normal.

In a more progressive society (and here is a further irony to savor), she would make a terrific judge.
And maybe, she says, that is the lesson here: that no matter where you are in life, look at what you have and be grateful.
Do not be taken in by her pigtails and her bandy legs, here is a heroine as intelligent as she is wild, a heroine anyone would follow to a new world.

Every second woman here is precariously balanced on needle-thin stilettos, and she wears them not exactly confidently - but nonetheless with a fixed determination.
This is her last foreign trip that we're going to take together, and it is fitting that we have come here to a country that she has done so much to support.
