"Unfortunately, it's going to be several decades before we see the end of the Antarcticozonehole, " said Dr Susan Solomon of the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The Antarcticozone hole's current size is approximately 10 million square miles (26 million square kilometres.) It is approximately three times the area of Australia and is the largest ozonehole ever.
The argument is that while BAS science has yielded the discovery of the ozonehole and other important findings on the glaciers and biology of the Antarctic Peninsular, the future lies in collaboration.
