McDougal had previously spent 18 months behind bars after Judge Susan Webber Wright found McDougal in civil contempt for refusing to testify before the grandjury.
But it is the fact that the lie occurred during a civil lawsuit or before the independent counsel's own grandjury that according to the charges constitutes the offense.
McDougal has been held in a Los Angeles county jail while she awaits trial on local charges but is under federal custody for civil contempt for refusing to answer questions before a Whitewater grandjury in Little Rock, Ark.
