Mr Ege told Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday the first he knew Yaseen had not died in a fire was when his wife told him he had collapsed on the day of the fire.
Police said they now believed there was an electrical fault with the hob on Mrs Crown's cooker, but could not confirm whether they believed that started the fire or whether an accelerant was used.
Brown, of Brotherton, North Yorkshire, started the fire in a drunken act of revenge after being refused entry to a party, his trial at Leeds Crown Court heard in December 2010.
But it was left to local lad Walker to fire his side to FA Trophy glory with that blistering effort that sent the Cumbrian fans into raptures and crown his season as Barrow's 21-goal top scorer.
