The roundabout sits on a single-lane section of the A417 dual carriageway between Swindon and Gloucester that is used as link between the M4 and M5.

The work will realign nearly three miles (4.7km) of the current route, and nearly two miles (3.1km) of the existing three-lane road will become a dual carriageway.
