The prime minister's claim is that the City of London - the centre of financial services in Europe - is the subject of regulatory assault by EUdirectives.
The Law Society of Scotland has noted that while the imposition of a minimum price of alcohol is a devolved matter within the legislative competence of the Scottish Parliament, compatibility with EU Duty Directives must be taken into account.
Recognising this concern, the SDC recommended that any project given the green light would have to be in "full compliance" with EU habitat and wildlife directives.
