Flush on the heels of the Flash Memory Summit, VM World in San Francisco was the haven of a great many storage system companies, many of who demonstrated flash memory as part of their storage architecture.
At the Flash Memory Summit Toshiba demonstrated their hybrid hard disk drive, joining Seagate as a provider of these storage devices that can provide performance similar to that of SSD with the storage costs closer to that of hard disk drives.
Next week the Flash Memory Summit will be held in Santa Clara, CA. It looks like it will be the largest of these events ever with lots of industry participation (in full disclosure I should say that I am the chairman of the 2011 FMS).
