Unlike Phelps, who went professional as a teenager, Franklin has eschewed sponsorship offers in order to swim in college after she graduates from highschool next year.
The leader of the U.S. women's team is the soon-to-be-ubiquitous Missy Franklin, a 17-year-old from Colorado who could arrive back at highschool for her senior year bedecked in as many as seven medals.
Following her first meet since the Olympics, last week's contest against Highlands Ranch HighSchool, so many rival swimmers asked to pose for photographs with Franklin that she missed the beginning of her team's post-meet cheer.
