While warning (presciently) that populism would breed demagoguery and tyranny, Hamilton opposed slavery (establishing the New York Manumission Society), founded a school to educate frontier Indians (now Hamilton College), launched the Bank of New York (1784), argued for a permanent defense (standing army), and extolled the virtue and productiveness of commerce, industry, and finance.

Keith Wellin, a 1950 Hamilton grad, gave the college 10 million to start building a museum in honor of his parents.

Hamilton and Armstrong have also written an upcoming book, called Paying for the Party: How College Maintains Inequality, where they expand on their dorm experience and describe how cuts in state funding of higher education have resulted in state schools relying on more tuition dollars.
