Using state-of-the-art driver eye-tracking and 3-D hand-gesture recognition, HCD-14 Genesis is able to recognize driver commands free from the distractions associated with manual controls.
Soon gesture-recognition systems, which will read the occupants' hand gestures in the empty air, will supersede touch screens and capacitive switches, avoiding, among other things, greasy fingerprints on the controls.
Gesturerecognition might seem a mismatch with phones since people tend to keep them close at hand, but TI believes there are plenty of reasons people will want to manage their handsets with motions.
