Last month, IndianHomeMinister P Chidambaram said the federal government would appoint a group to begin what he described as a sustained dialogue with Kashmiris, including political parties.
They learned of Mr. Singh's death within hours of their arrival in the Indian capital on Wednesday night and put forward their demand to HomeMinister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Mr. Kumar told reporters.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said his government would arrange to bring Sarabjit Singh's remains home and for last rites to be conducted in consultation with his family.
