In response, Sudan ordered 13 internationalaidgroups to leave the country, groups that the United Nations says provide roughly half the assistance delivered in Darfur.
But an army spokesman told the BBC that people of the area will need help from national and internationalaidgroups in the rehabilitation and reconstruction process in the weeks ahead.
More has been spent on airports recently, thanks to aid from America and to the pressure of international air-safety groups, which try to ensure that aircraft landing fees are not spirited away by governments.
According to the town's mayor, while some Turkish groups are helping Syrian refugees, only one international group, a German aid organization, is currently in the town.
