Bahia Hariri and Irina Bokova reaffirmed their joint commitment towards the protection and promotion of cultural expression and dialogue in line with respect for human rights, freedom of expression and freedom of belief.

Within the initiative of Joint Programme targeted at creation of new income generation opportunities and promotion of improved agricultural practices, 24 rural farmers and dehkhans (small farmers) in target areas were selected to form a network of agriculture extension agents (rural consultants) responsible for provision of consultancy services to rural population and solutions to the problems they might face in application of new agricultural practices.

The exhibition displayed the cultural products prepared under the joint initiative of One UN (ARP-JPC-2) project Promotion of Cultural Industries for Poverty Alleviation in Bahawalpur which was spearheaded by UNESCO in partnership with THAAP in 2011.

The meeting will also allow for a presentation of best practices in the promotion of shared heritage (multinational candidature files, common research projects, etc) and discuss future joint activities in the area of training and capacity-building, to be developed in conjunction with the new Category II Regional Center on intangible cultural heritage, officially inaugurated in Sofia, Bulgaria, in February 2012.
