As traffic logjams on Lombardi Avenue, hundreds of Cheeseheads millaround the Lambeau Field parking lot, chomping on Johnsonville brats and swigging Leinenkugels.
The mill was built around an iron frame in a technique adapted in the rebuilding of Chicago in the late 19th Century and for skyscrapers such as New York's Empire State Building.
The mill was undergoing maintenance during my visit (harvest season begins around May), but I got a glimpse at how the sugarcane is planted and saw how the operation is becoming increasingly mechanized.
