Mr. Polenzani sells the romantic (as opposed to moronic) concept of Nemorino well, but his agreeable lyric tenor lacks Italianate electricity and variety.
The problem isn't the general perception that this is a moronic, sophomoric movie -- that might be more enjoyable (see "Billy Madison" or "Happy Gilmore").
Daily Variety said "the cast has no likeable characters, motivation for every act is sexual, and the theme of moronic men versus wily women has been played out".
