The National Ballet of Canada recently premiered a new rendition of Romeo and Juliet by acclaimed Russian choreographer Alexei Ratmansky, and upcoming works include Swan Lake and Cinderella.
New York Live Arts, the arts group led by the choreographer Bill T Jones, has just held a festival called Live Ideas: The World of Oliver Sacks, with theatre, dance and performances dedicated to the neurologist and his exploration of the connection between mind and body.
The new works chosen by Mr. Martins included two by former NYCB resident-choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and one by company corps-de-ballet dancer Justin Peck.
The program will also include one of the most generous gifts the company has received in the wake of Sandy: a new work, "From the Grammar of Dreams, " created and donated by choreographer Luca Veggetti.
