It's right that nurseeducation should be overhauled, so today I am announcing new arrangements for training nurses that are more practical and more flexible.
So it comes as no surprise that the Willis Commission, set up by the Royal College of Nursing to look at nurseeducation, has given its whole-hearted backing to university training for nurses.
It also said that the NHS and its staff needed to recognise that the "typical patient" was an older person and that the Wales strategy for older people needed to be embedded in nurseeducation, practice and care management.
And this tax credit is making possible Kathleen and Edward Mohan to give their daughter Sarah the education she needs to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse.
Education is the key to empowerment and through my Lions club, I use my skills as a registered nurse to provide healthcare access to underserved populations.
