Most Americans intuitively perceive the hypocrisy of politically correct dogma, but few dare articulate their dismay, cowed into obsequiousness by the ubiquitous thought police.
They seemed not to notice that a uniformed staff was serving them with an obsequiousness that makes the servants in "Downton Abbey" seem positively revolutionary.
At least part of the explanation for this obsequiousness is oil, of course: They have it, we need it, and our economy would suffer badly if it were to become unavailable.
