The U.S. Department of Interior is redrafting its five-year plan to incorporate all the permitting and planning processes necessary for companies to get offshore leases.
In another example, the Department of the Interior worked with the State of California to create a Renewable Energy Policy Group to align Federal and state permitting and review processes to expedite solar, wind, geothermal and transmission projects in California.
Best practices, including conducting permitting and other environmental review processes concurrently instead of sequentially, are expected to shave several months off project schedules.
