Instead of investing in the M74 and Aberdeen western peripheral bypass, we should invest in the publictransportprojects that will encourage people to leave their cars at home.
But analysis by IPPR North shows almost half of major transportprojects involving public funding benefit only London and the south-east, accounting for 84% of planned spending.
Other proposed cuts include reducing opening hours for customer service centres and libraries, the withdrawal of some publictransport routes, delaying major infrastructure projects and reducing the funding available to support tourism.
