The International Union of PureandAppliedChemistry opted for the latter last week, baptizing elements 114 and 116 just about six months after they were first ratified.
The International Union of PureandAppliedChemistry (IUPAC) will officially endorse the new element's name in six months' time in order to give the scientific community "time to discuss the suggestion".
In other news, the Global Water Experiment that coincided with the International Year of Chemistry (2011) was held thanks to the collaboration of the International Union of PureandAppliedChemistryand UNESCO.
