Together with our colleagues of the INQUA (International Union for Quaternary Research) focus area group on palaeoseismology and active tectonics, IGCP 567 started a new tradition of joint field workshops.
There, the scientists themselves report that the anti-microbial agent has been known and used for years a cationic polymer, like quaternary polyetheleneimine, which kills bacteria by tinkering with the molecular integrity of cell membranes.
The work builds on previous surveys established by the British Geological Survey (BGS), which has shown that the present-day landscape of this region has been strongly shaped by Quaternary glaciation particularly over the past 500, 000 years.
