High levels of cesium 134 and 137 were confirmed at the point of the leak roughly 300 yards from the ocean, but no detectable amounts ofradioactivecontamination have been found in the sea water.
The Japanese government now says that levels ofradioactivecontamination beyond the legal health limits have been found in tap water in a town nearly 30-miles (46-kilometers) northwest of the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
