The railwaycrossing at Ely railway station is currently closed for about 35 minutes an hour, and this was expected to rise to an average of 40 minutes an hour when the line is upgraded.
The State Railway of Thailand operates several trains a day to the border crossing at Nong Khai, including overnight trains equipped with clean and comfortable first-class sleepers.
Phase two - opened on Thursday - is the longest section of the road, crossing the Clyde at Rutherglen Bridge and passing Dalmarnock Railway Station, the Commonwealth Arena and Celtic Park before joining the Parkhead by-pass at the Forge Retail Park.
