On Montgomery Lake, an oxbow of the Ocmulgee River near Helena, Perry threw out a wooden plug called the Creek Chub Wiggle Fish and reeled in 22 pounds and 4 ounces of fishing immortality.
The chub were well adapted to the poor visibility created by the thick, red water which gave the river its name, and depended on it to hide from predators.
