Recognizing that Arab and Muslim audiences rely on satellitetelevision and radio, the government has begun some promising initiatives in television and radio broadcasting to the Arab world, Iran, and Afghanistan.
But the government countered that 69 million television sets are not connected to cable or satellite, and that broadcasting is the medium of choice for children.
Starting with satellite, but moving on to cable and over-the-air broadcasting, the ability to transmit television programmes will thus become eight to 12 times greater and the number is rising.
