The activists who trooped to London's Connaught Rooms on a wet Saturday applauded the traditionalist elements of David Cameron's address, such as the return of competitiveschoolsport and a ban on calculators in primary school maths tests.
The results come several weeks after the education secretary for England announced plans to increase the amount of competitivesport played in school, and at an earlier age.
He went on to say playing competitivesport for a school was "intrinsically exclusive" and it was "perfectly sensible to have lots of other physical activities for children who loathed PE".
The draft PE curriculum published last week is designed to put competitivesport back at the heart of school life and end the damaging 'prizes for all' culture.
Although most high schools and colleges have cheerleaders, only 29 state high school athletic associations recognize cheerleading as a sport, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) does not include competitive cheerleading in its list of sponsored sports.
