Earlier, the StateOceanicAdministration had asked ConocoPhillips to finish the seabed cleanup by early this week and complete the whole cleanup by Aug. 31.
An official in the StateOceanicAdministration told Chinese official media that heavy winds on Monday had broken up the spill and dispersed it more widely than had previously been reported.
The StateOceanicAdministration said this week that it asked the company to give a comprehensive assessment report on the cleanup process of the oily mud with details on the spill area, including the cleaned and to-be-cleaned parts of the bay, China Daily reported.
