Events which have already been confirmed are an exhibition of Gustav Klimt's work at TateLiverpool and an opera based around the city's famous Adelphi Hotel.
Upcoming highlights include the Gustav Klimt exhibition at TateLiverpool and the Walker gallery's "Art in the Age of Steam", featuring paintings by Van Gogh, Turner and Monet.
The LiverpoolTate gallery has mounted an exhibition devoted to the form, drawing hitherto unsuspected connections between it and the work of artists like David Hockney and Andy Warhol (about whom Mr. Bowie wrote a song).
The Tate's collection is shared between its two galleries in London, Tate Britain and Tate Modern, as well as galleries in Liverpool and St Ives, Cornwall.
