Snobs on its face would seem to be a facile story about a striving, dopey girl who marries for status in a somewhat backwards British society where status of the family tree kind still matters a great deal.
In Sandy's poster the boy and thegirl are repositioned and stand on opposite sides of thetree, the boy is pictured as right-handed rather than left-handed, he wears long pants instead of knickers, and one of his feet is atop the blade pressing it into the ground.
