The 1984 film, ThisisSpinalTap, is an American rock and roll mock documentary about about the heavy metal music band, SpinalTap - "one of England's loudest bands".
This sort of thing is much better accomplished in novels (alternative histories such as Philip K. Dick's "The Man in the High Castle") or movies ("mockumentaries" like "This IsSpinalTap").
The location has become so synonymous with the stranger moments in rock music history that the films Almost Famous and ThisIsSpinalTap used the hotel as a filming location, both in an effort to add a bit of authenticity and as a wink to music fans in the know.
