Researchers have recently found that they can induce a similar effect using magnetism (transcranial magneticstimulation, or TMS) to disrupt RTPJ activity.
One new technique being used by some neuroeconomists is transcranialmagneticstimulation, in which a coil held next to the head issues a low-level magnetic pulse that temporarily disrupts activity in a certain part of the brain, to see if that changes the subject's preferences for example, for a particular food and how much he is willing to pay for it.
More drugs are in clinical trials, and non-drug treatments such as acupuncture, massage, biofeedback and transcranial-magnetic stimulation are also showing some promise at alleviating migraine pain.
