Mr. Page's condition of vocalcordparalysis is caused when one or both of the vocal cords don't open and close correctly, resulting in difficulty speaking or breathing.
In a general sense, vocalcordparalysis can be more difficult to treat since the main focus is to make the folds further apart to improve the airway, but not so much as to affect the quality of the voice.
Common causes of vocalcordparalysis include viral infections, along with tumors or cancers that can compress the recurrent laryngeal nerve, a branch of the vagus nerve (which provides specific innervation to the heart as well as other vital internal organs).
