Plextor's M5S SSD features a sustained computing performance with its exclusive firmware technology, including Instant Restore, Global WearLeveling, and Bad Block Management.
By reducing flash cell wear it may be possible to make TLC (three level cell flash) more useful and to reduce the intensive wearleveling common in SSDs today.
Even though the TLC cells have an erase-write rating of only 5, 000 cycles the company says the system provides an acceptable life using wear-leveling, write reduction and overprovisioning. (although we would like to see some field data on this) and provide a total storage capacity of up to 2 TB.
