紫苏子，为唇形科植物紫苏的干燥成熟果实。多系栽培。主产于湖北、江苏、湖南、浙江、安徽、河南等地。原植物生于湿地、路旁、村野、荒地，或栽培。喜温暖湿润气候，以疏松、肥沃、阳光充足的地方最宜生长。味辛，性温。归肺经。功效降气消痰、止咳平喘、润肠。临床用名有紫苏子、炒紫苏子、蜜炙紫苏子、紫苏子霜。
