Larger (at 20 inches tall) and differently shaped than the usual Passamaquoddy (Maine) examples, it was meticulously woven from brown ash and sweet grass by Mr. Frey, an eighth-generation basket-maker and self-described recovered drug addict, redeemed, in part, through his art.
