形声。字从糸，从召，召亦声。“召”意为“引导”、“呼唤”。“糸”指丝线、帛带。“糸”与“召”联合起来表示“引带”、“牵索”。本义：礼仪上牵引用的带索。引申义：接引、接续。说明：有些地方的婚礼上，可以看到新娘被用花布蒙着头和脸，看不见路，需要新郎牵引她。在拜天地父母前，新郎和新娘还不算一家人，所以两个人还不能牵手，只能用一条帛带相连，新郎借助帛带引导新娘走向婚礼的殿堂。这条帛带就是“绍”。
