变形钢筋是表面带肋的钢筋，通常带有2道纵肋和沿长度方向均匀分布的横肋。横肋的外形为螺旋形、人字形、月牙形3种。用公称直径的毫米数表示。变形钢筋的公称直径相当于横截面相等的光圆钢筋的公称直径。钢筋的公称直径为8-50毫米，推荐采用的直径为8、12、16、20、25、32、40毫米。钢筋在混凝土中主要承受拉应力。变形钢筋由于肋的作用，和混凝土有较大的粘结能力，因而能更好地承受外力的作用。
