热塑性聚烯烃(简称TPO)是由橡胶和聚烯烃两组分构成的弹性体材料。世界TPO主要生产方法有机械掺混法、反应器合成法和动态全硫化法三种工艺。热塑性弹性体(TPE)又称热塑性橡胶(TPR)，是一种兼具橡胶和热塑性塑料特性，在常温下显示橡胶高弹性，高温下又能塑化成型的高分子材料，是继天然橡胶、合成橡胶之后的第三代橡胶。包括以下主要品种：苯乙烯丁二烯嵌段共聚物(SBS)；聚烯烃类热塑性弹性体(TPO)；聚氨酯类热塑性弹性体(TPU)；聚酯类热塑性弹性体(PET)。聚烯烃类热塑性弹性体(TPO)，当前用得较多的是EPDM和PP，由橡胶和聚烯烃构成，生产的弹性体通常称为热塑性硫化胶TPV(Thermoplastic Vulcanizate)。
