是一种不设重力式地锚,而以加劲梁梁端锚固主缆,承受主缆端部的水平与竖向分力的悬索桥体系。它与常规地锚式悬索桥的区别在于不设地锚、加劲梁承受主缆水平分力而造成主梁存在较大的轴向压力。自锚式悬索桥同时具备常规地锚式悬索桥的各项优点,也是以承受拉力的缆索或链索作为主要承重构件,由悬索、索塔、索鞍、锚碇(梁端锚体,而非地锚)、吊杆、桥面系等部分组成。主要承重构件是悬索,它主要承受拉力,一般用抗拉强度高的钢材(钢丝、钢绞线、钢缆等)制作。
