视觉艺术，是指运用一定的物质、材料、技术手法，创作可供人观看欣赏的艺术作品，从广义上说，雕塑、绘画、摄影等艺术门类都属于它的范畴，它不仅创作方式多样，造型手法也十分多样。艺术作品既包括二维和三维形态，也包括动态和静态等多种艺术形式。其中，三维立体的空问艺术，例如雕塑和建筑艺术，通常也被称为造型艺术。此外，视觉艺术与听觉艺术不同，视觉艺术主要强调人的视觉感受，所以像影视艺术这样既包含视觉艺术又包含听觉艺术的艺术形式通常被划归到综合艺术形式的门类上来。从狭义上说，视觉艺术通常是指绘画、版画、油画、摄影等以观看为欣赏方式的平面艺术作品。
