还原剂是在氧化还原反应里，失去电子或有电子偏离的物质。还原剂本身具有还原性，被氧化，其产物叫氧化产物。还原与氧化反应是同时进行的，即是说，还原剂在与被还原物进行氧化反应的同时，自身也被氧化，而成为氧化物。所含的某种物质的化合价升高的反应物是还原剂。
