abstract:Bandwidth throttling is the intentional slowing of internet service by an internet service provider. It is a reactive measure employed in communication networks in an apparent attempt to regulate network traffic and minimize bandwidth congestion.
One great band-aid rarely explored by North American carriers is the concept of bandwidththrottling, whereby you don't have a hard cap that results in overage -- instead, you just get slapped with a lower data throughput if you blow past your quota.
The company also follows the more consumer-friendly policy of throttling or slowing down data speeds rather than charging users who exceed their specified amount of bandwidth.
