A review on the development including the equipment, technique, mechanism, bonding strength and the related factors of surface activated bonding at room temperature is given in this paper.

The experimental results show, 1) the room temperature strength of coating can be raised by organic binders, but tb'ey always have harmful influence on bonding strength at elevated temperatures;
