Compared with the glacial progress on initiatives to countertaxavoidance, international projects on financial crime and bank regulation have done rather well.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday, Mr Cameron said that corporations must "pay their fair share" of taxes, and he pledged to use Britain's G8 chairmanship to countertaxavoidance.
The states will also work with the IRS on what it calls "counter marketing"--attempting to get the word out, through the media and tax professionals, that certain taxavoidance schemes don't work.
