On the one hand, China is a very important trading partner with this country, albeit one that engages systematically in unfair practices, often in violation of obligations it assumed upon entry to the World Trade Organization, at enormous cost to this country's balanceof payments.
One might imagine, given that the electronics industry is currently America's largest manufacturing employer, the key dynamo of all the country's economic expansions of the last decades, and about the only positive force in its international tradebalance, that U.S. presidents may actually take the time to learn something about the subject.
