In the spring they swim north from the GulfofMexico along the GulfStream, about 60 miles offshore, to the nutrient-rich waters of the Northeast and Canada.
The fish, drifting in the gyre, would grow as the current took them west toward the Yucatan, then north into the GulfofMexico and finally into the GulfStream where the fish could pass near Miami just as they are good-eatin' size.
