The couple also signed a millionpoundnote each for the Bank's guest book and the Queen was shown the very first banknote she had signed on 29 November, 1937, aged 11.
The author Mark Twain wrote a short story, The MillionPound Bank Note (later made into a film starring Gregory Peck), in which a penniless sailor is given the note, little knowing he is the subject of a bet between two brothers.
