In the US, Amtrak set a new record as passengers across its national network grew 3.7% from October 2011 to March 2012, with more than 30 million people travelling. the NortheastCorridorline between Washington DC and Boston, which is popular among business travellers, saw an 8% rise in that same period in passenger numbers for the same period.
Amtrak said its crews continue to inspect and make repairs to the infrastructure along the Amtrak-owned NortheastCorridor, Springfield Line and Harrisburg Line in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.
